About us

The Turner Family

We bought Hentervene back in 2004, having looked at several holiday parks around the country, and immediately fell in love with it. Yes, there needed to be a lot of work done, but we could see its potential. It needed to be somewhere where we could happily live as a family with young children, but also somewhere where people would want to come back to on their holidays.

My parents lived in North Wales, Abersoch to be precise before moving down here. Not disimilar to where we are now actually, beautiful unspoilt countryside, and lovely sandy beaches. I moved away and went to University in Norwich where I trained to be a teacher, before meeting my wife Cathy and moving to Cheltenham, where I worked teaching science for several years. Cathy was a director of the YMCA.

We decided to look into buying a holiday park, a very different lifestyle, but a career choice we have certainly not regretted. Our children love it down here, plenty of open space for them to play in safety, and much as I enjoyed teaching, I have to say..I don`t miss it!

Doug and Celine, my parents, sold their gift shop in Abersoch, myself and Cathy resigned our positions and we moved down here to Crackington Haven.

It has been hard work, much needed doing here, the accommodation was all very tired, and the park was so overgrown, no exaggeration when I say there were acres of brambles.

In the relatively short time we have been here, we have replaced all the holiday units with nice new ones for sale. We have a lovely group of customers owning holiday homes here (most of the holiday homes here are in private ownership,) and the grounds have been transformed.

We are very much aware of the environment and its importance to the wildlife that exists here in abundance. Last year we decided to join the Bellamy conservation award scheme, really just to see what we could do to improve and what we were doing right, and it turns out we got a Gold award, so we were doing things right, and we can now continue with our hard work in confidence.

We want Hentervene to be the sort of place people want to keep come back to, (which they are, and thank you very much,) and the sort of place where we would want to go on holiday.

We all welcome you here to Hentervene, and if you do stay or even buy a holiday home, we are sure you will have a wonderful time.

Many thanks,

Steve, Cathy, Doug and Celine Turner.
